Live Lagom - Post 3
Well, this is the last blog of the series!
Whilst I still haven't found a home yet, I have learnt a great deal from #livelagom.
My second post's goal was to cut down on plastic and to meal prep more frequently. As a result, I have managed to get everybody I know to collect some förtrolig glass food containers.
I now have 4 and I use them for freezing and taking straight to work. They are excellent for tomato-based dishes, as obviously, glass doesn't stain.
The trådfri dimming kit is still working perfectly and have had no problems so far. When there was a large lightning storm it went a bit wobbly, but it does with most things.
My antoinetta blanket is still super warm and is currently being used as a mocked-up cushion as it is so hot outside.
The pruta food containers are very useful for helping me watch my portion sizes, and allows more storage space around the fridge.
My one problem is that the behållare water bottle went smelly after 2 months use, so I have retired it for special occasions and replaced it with a pint glass to cut down on single-use plastic cups by our water fountain (which only hold 250ml). As a result, I am now drinking more, and feel better about bringing my own utensils to work.
Workshops
I really enjoyed attending the workshops, and I am gutted that I could not attend more due to work constraints. A few workshops were cancelled at the Norwich store as it is a small store and could not accommodate staff for some things. All of the members and staff were/are so friendly and always there to help you get your head around things.
My favourite workshop was the curry in a hurry! I had never thought about using a pressure cooker before and had thought that a tiny induction hob couldn’t possibly do anything half decent, but I was very wrong. In the future, I am definitely going to invest in an induction hob and see if it helps me to save some pennies, although I am still a little scared about the pressure cooker, so maybe that will need more practice.
The future
In the coming months I have two more modules left of me supplementary degree then I am free to roam the wastes of adulthood and try to find somewhere to live either rented or owned. I feel that the lagom workshops and help have really inspired me to make important changes right from the beginning, and know how to save money and the environment through the purchases I can make. This can begin with Ikea as the products are so reasonable and last for such a long time.
As previously mentioned, I have managed to persuade many people at work, and also my partner’s family to invest in glassware to store food, including the korken, which currently range from holding tiny bits of Warhammer plastic to storing the notorious staining vegetable beetroot. Regardless of the contents, they are working brilliantly. In the scenario where the rubber seal may perish, Ikea offer replacements, therefore, make do and mend really does come into its own. The same with the lids for the förtrolig, which can also be substituted for bamboo lids, and plastic lids with colour coded seals!
I feel that kids in high school up to teenagers starting university could really benefit from some lagom help, and I definitely know that I could have benefitted at this stage!
For the far future I will try to update this blog with any house news, but for now, this is my last post as a #livelagom member :’(
